Taking center stage at London’s County Hall, 26 April 2023 marked a milestone in extending further commercial institutional investment into Central Africa’s mining economy, as CAMPEA inaugurated its partnership with Mines & Money to spotlight opportunities across one of the world’s most resource-rich regions. The event convened global investors, fund managers, and regional stakeholders to explore how private capital can be mobilized to drive both economic growth and sustainable development in frontier markets.
Central Africa at the core of global transition
Mining is the backbone of Central Africa’s economies. From copper and cobalt in the Democratic Republic of Congo, to iron ore in Gabon, gold in Cameroon, and manganese in the Republic of Congo, the region’s mineral wealth is not only critical to local macroeconomic stability but also essential to the global energy transition. Yet, despite this abundance, access to institutional capital remains a bottleneck, particularly for local and junior mining companies.

Building bridges between global capital and regional opportunity
The partnership between CAMPEA and Mines & Money was designed to change that. By bringing together global allocators of private capital with Central African mining operators, the event created a platform for meaningful dialogue, deal origination, and investor education.
“This collaboration is about more than mining—it’s about unlocking scale, credibility, and sustainable growth for frontier economies utilising assets for domestic transformation and export of processed and transformed products to global markets hence breaking the cycle of a pure-play extractive economic region only,” said Tania Eyanga, CEO of CAMPEA. “And this involves opening competitive flow of funding for indigenous operators driving the future of a synergistic mining industry. For too long, capital has overlooked smaller local license holding players . We are committed to ensuring junior mining firms have access to the funding they need to expand responsibly and contribute to the region’s long-term prosperity.”
Looking ahead
The Inaugural partnership edition marks only the beginning of a long-term collaboration between CAMPEA and Mines & Money. Together, the two organizations are committed to creating structured platforms that channel institutional capital into Central Africa’s mining sector, underpinned by rigorous governance, transparency, and sustainable growth. Looking ahead, this partnership will expand to include dedicated investor roundtables, curated deal pipelines, and initiatives to deepen regional capital markets. For investors, the opportunity is twofold: to access frontier-market deal flow with competitive risk-adjusted returns, while playing a catalytic role in advancing economies whose growth trajectories are only starting to unfold.
