Reinforcing SMEs Fundraising as Official Participating Investor at Tunis Summit 2024 by AfricArena

Tunisia, 15 October 2024 –  The Central Africa Markets Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (CAMPEA) proudly took part as an Official Participating Investor at the Tunis Investment Summit, hosted by AfricArena.

the AfricArena Tunis Summit taking place at the Tunisian City of Culture, brings insights from Central Africa’s private equity and venture capital markets to a global audience of investors, fund managers, and industry leaders who benefited from the organisation’s unique but complementary perspectives. The summit aligned with CAMPEA’s objective and industry partner to our organisation, serves a channel and a platform to showcase investment opportunities, discuss regional growth trends, and strengthen cross-border partnerships, reinforcing CAMPEA’s commitment to catalyzing capital and fostering transparency across the region.

Amongst notable corporate participants, VCs and multilateral organisations, are included representations from Crossboundary, Smart Capital, Flat 6 Labs,  IFC, World Bank, Amazon AWS Startups, CDC (Caisse de Depots et Consignations),  216 Capital and multiple parties from the African tech  and supporting ecosystem.

CAMPEA aims to be a cornerstone in Central Africa’s economic modernization—creating a structured path for startups and SMEs to thrive through legal support, diversified capital channels, and ecosystem development. Its frameworks and results make it a leading model for Startup Acts across Africa and the Central African markets sub-region.

CAMPEA’s Role

Representing the voice of Central Africa’s private equity and venture capital community, CAMPEA’s presence underscored three key priorities:

  • Reinforcing SME fundraising capacity by connecting regional entrepreneurs with institutional and international investors.

  • Bridging ecosystems between North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, and global capital markets.

  • Showcasing Central Africa as a dynamic region with untapped opportunities in climate finance, renewable energy, agriculture, digital transformation, and infrastructure.

Why SME Fundraising Matters

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are the backbone of Africa’s economies, contributing to growth, job creation, and innovation. Yet, access to capital remains a critical barrier. By participating in forums such as the Tunis Investment Summit, CAMPEA reinforces its mission to:

  • Expand access to smart capital for SMEs.

  • Strengthen regional fund managers and angel investor networks.

  • Advocate for sustainable and inclusive investment across Central Africa.

“At CAMPEA, we see SME fundraising not just as a financing tool but as a catalyst for economic resilience and climate-smart growth across Central Africa.” – commented Tania Eyanga, CAMPEA’s representative to the Tunis Summit.

Looking Ahead

CAMPEA’s engagement at the Tunis Investment Summit reflects its growing role as a regional connector of capital and opportunity. Building on partnerships with platforms like AfricArena, CAMPEA will continue to bridge investors and entrepreneurs, ensuring Central Africa remains an integral part of Africa’s investment story.
