company history

The Central Africa Markets Private Equity & Venture Capital Association (CAMPEA) was founded to address a critical gap in the investment ecosystem of Central Africa: the absence of a dedicated industry body to promote private equity and venture capital in the region. While West, East, and Southern Africa had established associations to advance investment dialogue and mobilize capital, Central Africa remained underserved and underrepresented on the global stage.

Recognizing the need for a unifying platform, CAMPEA was established to connect fund managers, institutional investors, development finance institutions, and policymakers across the region. Since its inception, the Association has positioned itself as the sole regional voice for private capital in Central Africa, dedicated to unlocking capital flows, promoting best practices, and driving sustainable economic growth.

Over the years, CAMPEA has launched four core pillars—advocacy, research, capacity building, and industry convenings—to advance its mission. Through flagship programmes, strategic partnerships, and regional collaborations, CAMPEA continues to strengthen investor confidence, improve transparency, and promote market development.

Today, CAMPEA stands as a bridge between Central Africa’s investment opportunities and the global private capital community, shaping the region’s narrative as a rising hub for venture capital and private equity.
