Bridging the Climate Investment Gap: Green Finance as a Driver for Sustainability at the London Stock Exchange

On  26th June 2024, the Central Africa Markets Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (CAMPEA) proudly participated in the Climate Investment Forum, hosted by the World Climate Foundation at the London Stock Exchange during Climate Action Week 2024.

Represented by Ms. Tania Eyanga, CAMPEA Chair, the Association joined global leaders in finance, investment, and sustainability to address one of the defining challenges of our time: bridging the climate investment solutions gap in emerging and frontier markets.

Central Africa at the Heart of Climate Solutions

Central Africa holds unique importance in global climate efforts. The region’s vast forests, renewable energy potential, and biodiversity make it a natural capital of climate resilience. Yet, unlocking these opportunities requires private capital to complement public and philanthropic funding.

Ms. Eyanga emphasized CAMPEA’s commitment to:

  • Mobilizing private capital for climate-smart infrastructure, renewable energy, and sustainable mining and agriculture.

  • Strengthening regional fund managers to channel investments into climate solutions with measurable impact.

  • Positioning Central Africa as a vital partner in global decarbonization and climate resilience strategies.

Building Bridges with Global Investors

The forum provided CAMPEA a platform to connect with institutional investors, development finance institutions, and climate funds. By showcasing Central Africa’s potential, CAMPEA reinforced its mission of integrating the region into global capital flows while ensuring that investments generate both financial returns and environmental resilience.

“Bridging the climate investment gap is not only a global imperative but also a regional opportunity. Central Africa must be at the table, shaping solutions that benefit both people and the planet.”Tania Eyanga, CAMPEA Chair

Looking Ahead

CAMPEA’s participation in Climate Investment Week marks an important step in advancing climate-aligned private equity and venture capital strategies in Central Africa. The Association will continue building partnerships that direct capital where it is needed most — financing entrepreneurs, infrastructure, and innovation that drive sustainable development.
