Responsibilities

  • Collect, structure, and maintain databases of private equity and venture capital deals across Africa, funneled unto Central Africa.

  • Track fundraisings, portfolio investments, exits, and asset allocations for both fund managers and direct investors.
  • Assist in preparing performance summaries, benchmarking reports, and dashboards that inform investment decisions and stakeholder communications.
  • Conduct analysis on deal flow, sector trends, and investment patterns to support CAMPEA’s research and policy initiatives.
  • Support the preparation of research reports, dashboards, and briefing notes.

  • Conduct basic statistical analysis and generate visualizations to highlight investment trends.

  • Assist in tracking deal announcements, exits, and fundraising activities in the region.

  • Collaborate with programme and events teams to provide data-driven insights for workshops, investor briefings, and training sessions.

  • Contribute to maintaining CAMPEA’s investment repository, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and up-to-date information for members and partners.

  • Establish and maintain  linkages with fund managers, external analysts, and data ecosystem partners to support accurate, timely, and comprehensive market intelligence for research and investment insights.
  • Collaborate with the programme and communications teams to ensure data-driven insights support CAMPEA’s initiatives.

  • Support ad hoc investment analytics projects, including scenario analysis, market mapping, and trend reporting for internal and external audiences.

Qualifications/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Data Science, or a related field.

  • Strong proficiency in Excel and basic knowledge of  statistical data analysis tools, and solid understanding of research methods and basic financial or economic concepts with high attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.

  • Excellent communication skills in English; French proficiency is highly desirable.

  • Demonstrated interest in private equity, venture capital, or African capital markets is a plus.

  • Data Management: Ability to collect, clean, tabulate, collate, organize, and maintain structured datasets from multiple sources, including public records, press releases, and proprietary databases.

  • Database Tools: Proficiency with Excel, Google Sheets, and familiarity with database management systems (SQL, Airtable, or similar). Ability to manage large datasets efficiently.

  • Analytical Thinking: Strong numerical and analytical skills to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies in investment and market data.

  • Data Visualization: Competence in creating clear charts, dashboards, and infographics using tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Google Data Studio to communicate insights to stakeholders.

  • Research Skills: Ability to conduct thorough secondary research, validate sources, and maintain data integrity across datasets.

  • Attention to Detail: Precision in data entry, verification, and reporting, ensuring high-quality outputs for the association’s repository and publications.

  • Collaboration & Communication: Work effectively with programme managers, communications, and external partners; translate data insights into clear, actionable information for internal and external audiences.

  • Process Improvement: Suggest and implement improvements to data collection, storage, and reporting processes to increase efficiency and accuracy.

  • Technical Literacy: Basic proficiency in scripting or programming for data manipulation (Python, R) is advantageous but not mandatory.
