About CAMPEA

The Central Africa Markets Private Equity & Venture Capital Association (CAMPEA) is the leading industry association and official organisation body promoting private equity and venture capital in Central Africa. CAMPEA champions alternative financing in the region  by demystifying the landscape, connecting investment practitioners including development and commercial financial institutions, portfolio fund managers, policymakers, and  enterprise ecosystem stakeholders through advocacy, research, capacity building, and high-profile industry convenings. The Association drives co-investing potential, showcases deal flow,  contribute to the deepening and market development, promotes best practices, and facilitates sustainable capital allocation in the region.

Role Overview

The COO will oversee CAMPEA’s operational and programme functions, ensuring strategic priorities are executed efficiently and effectively. As a senior member of the leadership team, the COO will manage cross-functional departments—including programmes, partnerships, research, and operations—driving organizational performance, operational excellence, and institutional growth. The role requires strong strategic vision, leadership, and operational expertise to strengthen CAMPEA’s impact across Central Africa’s investment ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight across CAMPEA’s departments, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and mission.

  • Oversee programme delivery, including research initiatives, industry events, training programmes, and advocacy projects.

  • Lead the Partnerships function, strengthening relationships with members, fund managers, investors, DFIs, and ecosystem stakeholders.

  • Manage internal operations, including finance, HR, compliance, and IT infrastructure, to ensure operational efficiency.

  • Support the CEO in strategic planning, organizational growth, and institutional representation at regional and international forums.

  • Establish performance metrics, monitor departmental outcomes, and ensure continuous improvement across operations and programmes.

  • Drive effective communication and collaboration across departments, fostering a high-performing and mission-driven organizational culture.

  • Represent CAMPEA in high-level engagements with investors, regulators, and strategic partners to advance the private capital ecosystem.

Skills/Experience

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of senior management experience, preferably within financial services, private equity, venture capital, or industry associations.

  • Proven experience overseeing multi-department operations, including programmes, partnerships, and organizational management.

  • Strong understanding of private equity, venture capital, and investment ecosystems in Africa.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills, with experience managing high-performing teams and cross-functional initiatives.

  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills at both regional and international levels.

  • Ability to develop and implement operational strategies, policies, and performance management frameworks.

  • A keen grasp and proficiency in English and French or Portuguese is highly desirable.

  • Professional, able to interact with sponsors, funders, members, vendors/clients
