Role Overview

The Research, Programme & Policy Manager will lead CAMPEA’s research and policy agenda while supporting programme development and execution. This role combines analytical rigor with strategic programme management, ensuring CAMPEA produces actionable insights for investors, policymakers, and ecosystem partners. The Manager will oversee research outputs, policy briefs, and investment market intelligence, as well as coordinate cross-cutting programmes that reinforce CAMPEA’s strategic objectives.

Responsibilities

The Research, Programme & Policy Manager will drive CAMPEA’s research and policy initiatives, translating data and market intelligence into actionable insights for investors, fund managers, and policymakers. This role combines strategic programme management with analytical rigor, overseeing research projects, investment databases, and policy briefs while coordinating cross-cutting initiatives such as workshops, training sessions, and industry events. The Manager will collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners across the Central African investment ecosystem to ensure CAMPEA’s programmes and outputs are accurate, relevant, and impactful.

Scope of Work
  • Lead research initiatives on private equity, venture capital, and broader capital markets in Central Africa, including fundraisings, deal flow, exits, and investment trends.

  • Conduct policy analysis and draft policy briefs, recommendations, and advocacy reports to support regulatory and market development initiatives.

  • Manage programme planning, execution, and reporting for research-driven projects and initiatives, including workshops, training sessions, and high-level investor events.

  • Collaborate with internal analysts, fund managers, DFIs, and ecosystem partners to ensure data quality, market intelligence, and research relevance.

  • Establish and maintain data linkages with fund managers, internal analysts, and external ecosystem partners to support accurate, timely, and actionable market insights.

  • Arranging research coordination with other ecosystem partners, associations and corporate research partners

  • Develop and maintain CAMPEA’s investment and transaction database for use in reports, dashboards, and investor briefings.

  • Oversee monitoring and evaluation of research and programme outputs, ensuring alignment with CAMPEA’s strategic priorities.

  • Represent CAMPEA at regional and international conferences, panels, and working groups.

  • Contribute to grant proposals, donor reporting, and external partnership engagements where research and policy work is relevant.

Skills/Experience

  • Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Public Policy, International Development, or related field.

  • Minimum 5–7 years of relevant professional experience in research, programme management, or policy analysis, ideally within private capital markets, DFIs, or industry associations.

  • Strong understanding of private equity, venture capital, asset management, and investment ecosystems in Africa.

  • Experience producing high-quality research reports, policy briefs, and investment market analysis.

  • Proficiency in statistical data production, data conversion and management, analytics, and visualization tools (Excel, SQL, Power BI, Tableau, or similar).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication; bilingual proficiency in English and French highly desirable.

  • Strong project management skills, including planning, budgeting, and coordinating multi-stakeholder initiatives.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
